  • In a manner of speaking, yes they did have a gun to their heads. Liberal leaning congress, both Democrat and Republican, threatened them with low ratings among other consequences if they did not relax their credit requirements.

  • You might want to research where the bulk of Fannie and Freddie's political contributions go, as well as the rest of the Wall Street comapanies. This bill was not going to do anything to help the little guy. In fact, it was going to cost him more.
